['antʃɛrl], Karel, tschechischer Dirigent, * Tučapy (Südböhmischer Kreis) 11. 4. 1908, ✝ Toronto 3. 7. 1973; studierte bei V. Talich und H. Scherchen, war 1950-68 Leiter der Tschechischen Philharmonie Prag und seit 1969 Dirigent des Toronto Symphony Orchestra. In seinem Repertoire, das vorwiegend die Musik zwischen der Wiener Klassik und I. Strawinsky umfasste, nahm die tschechische Musik eine zentrale Stelle ein.
